I am an enthusiastic all or nothing person. Always have been and always will be. Punctuality, work ethic, and effective communication is non-negotiable. First with myself and then with my fellow man, whether it be a client, friend or family member. I had the privilege of being raised on a family farm in the beautiful Boland town known as Ceres. After school, military service and one-year tertiary training in farming management, it was off to the university of agriculture, the family farm. A diverse agriculture enterprise with grain, subdivisions of horticulture, husbandry, (intensive and extensive practices), value-added divisions with the like of feed factory and meat processing. The enterprise expanded to the Karoo with the acquisition of land adjacent to the Gamka River between Beaufort- Wes and Prince Albert where lucerne, ostrich, sheep, (wool and meat), vegetable seed, and stone fruit were produced. The combined enterprise specialised in local and export markets. Since youth I had a passion for people and the desire to engage with people on a deeper level. During my career in agriculture, I had the opportunity to equip myself with the necessary skill set to accomplish the latter. I always knew inside that effective communication is key to all dimensions in life. Little did I know that I will be confronted with a life-threatening disease from the age of 32. I was fine the one day and admitted to ICU the next day, with critical episodes over the last 24 years of my life. Category 5 kidney disease was the diagnosis. Transplant was the only way of survival. First, a God-given wife, who was my donor, God-given Grace and faith kept me going. This chapter in my life made me realize, by God’s grace I am still here for a reason. “It is not a Job, it’s a Calling.” From this platform I engage with my clients. I am a firm believer of the first 5 seconds. An attitude of I am here to help, to really listen, to respond effectively, thereby make the other party feel, he or she has been heard. Due to the health issues, I changed my approach and eventually entered the agricultural real estate market in 2019, predominately in the Southern Cape. After two years of marketing and selling farms. I identified the need in the market for a specialized approach combined with almost two decades of first-hand experience in the agriculture industry. Apart from the prerequisites from the PPRA to practice, I completed a 3-year diploma in Real Estate at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology as academic prerequisite to start the journey of qualifying myself as a Professional Valuer. Therefore, my approach has changed completely, with the combination of years of practical agricultural knowledge combined with the methodology of the valuation industry and the completion of a successful transaction. The production of a full motivated valuation report level the playing field between the seller and purchaser. What would I like to share with my clients about my service and dedication? Professional approach is only possible through the discipline of constant analysis of the market you are operating in and conveying it to clients, enabling them to make informed decisions.
